What Just Texted collects, why, who else handles it, how long we keep it, and what you can do about it.
The short version
When you chat, what you type is sent to Google's Gemini AI so the characters can reply, with your name, your gender, your bio and your last messages in that chat.
We collect what we need to run Just Texted, to take payment and to stop abuse.
You can delete your account at justtexted.com/delete-account.
Just Texted does not sell your personal information and sends nothing about you to any advertising company.
Who we are
Just Texted is operated by Odin Studio Inc., a Canadian federal corporation, corporation number 1815990-4, St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada.
Odin Studio Inc. decides how your information is used and answers for it. Questions go to support@justtexted.com.
What we collect
Before you have an account
A random id, kept in a cookie. It lets us count what this browser does before you sign in. It is our own cookie.
What you do in Just Texted, such as opening the price page or starting a payment. Our own server writes this down beside the random id.
Your internet address, your country and your browser type. Our website and app server receive these. We use them to stop abuse, to limit requests and to sell only where we can. If you join the waitlist for your country, we keep your country with the email you gave us.
If you arrive from an ad or a tagged link: which ad, which search word and which page you landed on, and the click code the ad added to the address.
When you pay
The email you type for your receipt.
What you bought, the amount, the date and the last 4 digits of the card.
Your internet address and browser type at that moment. Card companies ask sellers to keep these to fight fraud.
Your card number goes to the payment company. We do not keep the full number.
If you buy a plan that renews, we keep the record that you ticked the box. It holds the exact words shown, the time and your internet address.
When you make an account
Your email address. If you sign in with Apple or Google, they tell us your email and confirm it is yours, and we keep only the email. Apple may give us a private relay address instead of your own. No password, ever.
A sign-in session, so you stay signed in on that device. Signing out deletes it.
The codes we email you. We keep only a scrambled copy that cannot be read back. A code works for 10 minutes.
What Just Texted itself handles
Before you swipe or chat, we ask for your birthday to check that you are 18 or over, and we keep it on your profile. If it says you are under 18, we keep only that this account and device stopped, and you cannot chat.
We keep the profile you make: your name, your gender, who you want to meet, your bio, your time zone if you add one (the app calls it Location), your photo if you add one, and your settings, such as light or dark, vibrations and whether you allowed notifications.
We keep the photos you add: your profile photo, photos you send in a chat, your couple selfies and the pictures of characters you make. No other user can see them, and we never use them in ads. We keep each photo as a picture only. We never measure your face or keep a face print.
We keep your swipes, your matches, your chats with each character (your messages and their replies), your level with each character, your Vibe scores (worked out from the messages you type), the notices in your Activity, the characters you make, your gems, what you spent them on and your daily gem claims.
If you ask for an email when we sell in your country, we keep your email address and country for that notice.
Each time the crisis message is shown, we count that it was shown. The count holds no name, no id and none of your words.
Feedback you send us, with your email, is kept and emailed to support@justtexted.com so a person reads it.
If you let the app send you texts on an iPhone, we keep your phone's push address and the switches you chose, so our server can send a character's text through Apple. Turn them off in Settings, Notifications.
So each AI character remembers you, we keep short notes about what you tell it (like your name, your work, your pets and your people), a short summary of your chat, and any message you ask it to remember word for word. Google's Gemini AI writes the notes and the summary from your recent messages, and they are sent to it with each message you type to that character. See or forget them in Settings, What they remember. Deleting your account deletes them.
What we do not do
There is no analytics vendor, no advertising network and no tracking pixel on any page here.
No third-party trackers, no advertising identifiers, no cross-site profile.
No selling or sharing of your records.
There is no password to collect.
We do not keep your full card number.
What we use it for
To run Just Texted for you and keep your account working.
To take payment, send receipts and send the emails that come before a renewal.
To answer you when you write to us.
To stop fraud and abuse, and to answer a bank when a charge is questioned.
To count what is used, so we can fix Just Texted and make it better.
Who else handles it
We use other companies to run Just Texted. Each one gets only what it needs to do its job for us.
Payments. Your payment is taken by Stripe, who tells us if it worked. If Stripe cannot take a monthly or 3-month VIP payment, Braintree, a PayPal company, may take it instead. With each charge we send the company that takes it your email, your internet address, our id for you, what you bought and how long you have been a customer. Card companies use these to check that a charge is real.
When you chat, what you type is sent to Google's Gemini AI so the characters can reply, with your name, your gender, your bio and your last messages in that chat.
Before your first message is sent, the app asks: Before you start chatting. The characters here are AI, not real people. To write their replies, Google Gemini processes what you send and your profile. You tap I agree or Not now.
When you ask for a couple selfie, your profile photo is sent to Google's Gemini AI to draw it. A photo you send in a chat is not sent to Gemini: the character reads only your caption.
When you make a character, its name, tagline and bio are sent to Google's Gemini AI to write its replies. With no photo, its tagline is sent to draw its picture. A photo you give it is sent to Gemini only when you ask for a couple selfie with that character.
Errors. When a page breaks, a fault report goes to Sentry. It carries no name, email, payment details or links from our emails.
Banks and the law. If you question a charge with your bank, we send the bank our record of the purchase. We give information to a court, the police or a regulator only when the law makes us.
Ads
Just Texted sends nothing about you to any advertising company. No advertising company's code runs on these pages.
How long we keep it
Your account and everything linked to it (your profile, photos, matches, chats, the characters you made and your gems): until you delete your account. Our records of what was used, such as a page seen or a message sent, have no automatic deletion date. When you delete your account, they stay with your name, email and ids removed.
A sign-in session: until you sign out or it runs out.
An emailed code works for 10 minutes. We keep only a scrambled copy of it.
An ad click code: 7 days.
We keep payment records only as long as tax law requires. In Canada that is six years from the end of the tax year a record belongs to.
Your choice at Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information: we keep it so that it keeps working.
We also keep the record that you agreed to your plan's renewal, for three years or one year after your plan ended, whichever is later, because the law asks us to.
Your choices
Delete your account. Open justtexted.com/delete-account, or tap Delete Account in the app's Settings. This deletes your account, email, profile, photos, matches, chats, the characters you made and your gems, all at once. Payment records stay for the period explained above, and our records of what was used stay with your name, email and ids removed.
See or fix what we hold. Write to support@justtexted.com from the email on your account. You can ask what we hold about you, ask for a copy, and ask us to correct it. We answer within thirty days. There is no charge.
Stop sharing with ad companies. Use the link Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information at the bottom of every page. If your browser sends the Global Privacy Control signal, that counts as turning this on.
Stop marketing email. Every email from us has an unsubscribe link. It works in one tap, with no sign-in. It stops marketing email only. A sign-in code, a receipt and a renewal email still send.
Children
Just Texted is for people 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you think someone under 18 has used it, write to support@justtexted.com and we delete what we hold.
Where it is processed
Odin Studio Inc. is a Canadian corporation. Just Texted and the companies named above may keep and process your information on servers outside Canada and outside the country you live in. That means it can be subject to the laws of the country where it is stored.
Changes to this page
If this page changes, the date at the top changes with it. We do not make changes quietly.
